Katapulto is the solo music project of Wojtek Rusin (Poland).

In Katapulto’s music deadpan lyrics meet quasi-danceable beats and beautiful melodies. Maximal rather then minimal, it is multi-dimensional music of constant metamorphosis. Juxtapositions of dry electronics and exotic, raw folk instruments like the whistle or Greek bouzouki mandolin set the overall tone of his music.

He makes surreal, experimental videos which also function as visualisations for his live shows, which are an explosion of maniacal energy, cheap keyboard riffs and deranged vocals. The result is an audio-visual spectacle of modern hysteria.

Katapulto also makes sound design and music for theatre and installations…

He has played at international festivals including NonoLogic, Barcelona 2012, Venn festival in Bristol, England (2008) and Um International Festival of Experimental Intermedia in Lisbon (2009). Katapulto has gigged with Felix Kubin, Micachu, Ariel Pink, Janek Schaefer, Infinite Livez, Man from Uranus, Dj Scotch Egg, Dj Sniff ...

Reviews

"Poland’s Katapulto makes crazy upbeat spastic pop music. The array of sounds blends together so wonderfully, and unlike alot of electronic music Katapulto steers clear of redundant repetitions. His songs are very colorful with references to early 90’s dance music, 80’s hip hop and tropical cabana sounds".

Pralines Of Doom (LP, Onec Records)
• Katapulto’s unhinged maximalism, nailed here to some dancefloor discipline, has resulted in an album of immense delight. Previously pigeonholed as “an explosion in a marimba factory”, imagine a deliriously inventive pinball machine jammed inside a jukebox featuring Yello, Blancmange, Jimi Tenor and Daft Punk. ‘Big Iron’ sees Wojtek Rusin narrating a cowboy shoot-out to rubbery techno, as if Morricone had discovered glow sticks. The filtered disco of ‘Fake French Rap’ and ‘Power Failure’ (boasting impressively demented guest vocals from Amanda Palma) suggests a neon-lit nightclub run by Klaus Nomi. There’s a brilliantly original reading of Marvin Gaye’s ‘Sexual Healing’ morphed into sleekly unsettling day-glo house music. It’s immaculately produced and genuinely special.

Kid Pensioner, Venue magazine

The music is full of energy, with nice up-tempo beats, great song-structure, unexpected breaks and nice cut-ups (...) Pralines of Doom is for now the sunniest moment in these dark days.
